The core competences of SIFIN are based on the qualification of its employees and their practice of many years.

The development and production of:

• Test sera and test reagents to detect and serotype bacterial enteritis pathogens with the focus on Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia enterocolitica and Escherichia coli
• Culture media for culturing micro-organisms
• Blood grouping reagents
• The establishment and production of monoclonal antibodies by means of the hybridoma cell culture technique as a central constituent of our immunopreparations since the mid eighties. Monoclonal antibodies find their way into classic blood grouping products and into test reagents for the diagnosis of Salmonella, Shigella and Escherichia coli including enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC).
• Especially for the diagnosis of Salmonella we have switched a substantial part of the range of agglutinating reagents from polyclonal to monoclonal antibodies - a milestone for both routine use and epidemiology.
